Recorded 1961-1962 at Beswick Creek Welfare Branch Settlement, near Katherine, N.T. Didjeridu is thin-walled, wrapped in electrical tape. Bore is 3'7" long and a fairly uniform 2" diameter, narrowed to 1 1/2" by a wax mouthpiece. The didjeridu belongs to Barney and is never used to accompany songs of any other cycle. The owner claims that the songs, song texts, drone patterns, dances and even the location of the ant-hollowed pandanus trunk from which the didjeridu was made were all revealed to him in a dream by a deceased musical mentor.
